Amanda is a single mother of two and has painted for 30 years, painting was her way to 'escape' without leaving home.
Her beautiful children are now adults and she is spending her days as a mobile Art Tutor, travelling around in a van with her dog Josie, teaching art workshops around Tasmania.
Originally born in Bundaberg but spent most of her life in Far North Queensland. She moved to Tasmania in 2013. She completed a Bachelor of Fine Art in 2018, majoring in Sculpture.
Amanda has designed a drawing technique that is easy to use and replicate. A technique that will help you draw any size picture onto any surface. She demonstrates how to use your mobile phone as a lightbox and projector.
Projecting an image onto a surface helps you to understand the importance of scale and composition. You can see how your image will look prior to drawing it on your canvas.
If you are interested in drawing, painting, wood work, printmaking or murals you can apply this technique.
Once you have learnt this new drawing technique you will find the possibilities are endless. It will give you new found confidence in your artistic abilities.
Colour plays a huge part in our lives and influences our mood. Playing with colour is fun and a easy way to express your individuality.
The acrylic paint used in the workshop are premixed by Amanda. She uses both tube paint and house paint to get the best consistency and coverage.
Amanda has a particular passion for teaching and loves inspiring people to be creative regardless of age, gender, sexuality or ability. This is reflected by the fact that she has undertaken further study to achieve a Certificate III in Individual Support and has her Working with Vulnerable People Card.
