Amarantha is a Jamaican/ Australian writer, independent theatre-maker and event curator whose work is an active expression of community engagement and advocacy of the amplification of Black voices. She is an active contributor to the diverse representation of Afro-diasporic stories in Melbourne’s independent theatre sector. She has designed, lead and managed arts programs that exemplify equity, for organisations such as MAV (Multicultural Arts Victoria), Malthouse Theatre, Wyndham and Darebin City councils. As writer she amplifies stories from her Caribbean culture and West African ancestral lineage. She was selected for La Mama Theatre’s Pathways Writers Program and Malthouse Theatre’s Besen writer’s program. Her one-woman show Oshun, about the Yoruba goddess of love, femininity and fertility had 2 sold-out seasons at La Mama theatre.
