AMURT is an international humanitarian organisation with a network extending to some 80 countries. Founded in India in 1965, its volunteers provide disaster relief and long-term development assistance to vulnerable communities around the world.
AMURT works closely with its sister organisation AMURTEL (Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team Ladies), which is managed by women and places particular emphasis on women and children. Both organisations are largely decentralised: national AMURT/AMURTEL organisations operate projects locally while forming part of the wider international network.
AMURT is associated with the United Nations Department of Global Communications.
