Anam Cara Geelong is a world-class hospital providing specialised clinical care and compassionate support for guests and their families, from life-limiting diagnosis to end-of-life.
Located in a tranquil and idyllic setting on the grounds of Deakin University, Waurn Ponds, we uphold the highest standards of care and flexibility through our Living Well Day Program, Centre of Care (overnight and end-of-life care) and Bulk Billed Clinic Consultations, as well as carer and family support services.
What truly sets us apart is our exemplary medical and nursing model, which is uniquely sophisticated and distinct from most other palliative care services across the country. Our model includes 24/7 on-call palliative care physicians who are onsite every day of the year, 24/7 palliative care nursing care, and 24/7 palliative care phone support. Our generous nursing ratios ensure one registered nurse for every four patients, plus a senior nurse who coordinates every shift without a patient load.
Our incredible cohort of highly trained and dedicated volunteers, from all walks of life, generously offer their time, care and kindness to our guests, carers, and families whom we have the privilege of supporting.
At the heart of our mission lies a solemn pledge: “You will be respected, cared for with dignity, and receive the highest standards of care.” This commitment guides every interaction, decision, and moment of care for our guests, their families, and carers.
Our ethos revolves around providing “the things that matter most” for our guests. Whether it’s sharing a favourite meal with family, enjoying music, or simply savouring quiet moments of reflection in our beautiful gardens, we prioritise the unique desires of each guest, guiding them toward a dignified and peaceful end-of-life experience—what we refer to as “a beautiful death.”
