The Andamooka Opal Evolution Festival is a collaborative effort of local creatives to host an annual multi-arts event in Andamooka. This festival celebrates the region's unique heritage, including Andamooka opalised fossils, the ancient Eromanga Sea, Andamooka opals, and South Australia's only dinosaur. Open to anyone, the festival encourages community involvement and skill development.
We aim to provide local creatives, artists, and community members with opportunities to upskill and learn technical skills, enabling them to become paid arts workers for regional events. This initiative will help the festival become sustainably run by skilled community members, offering employment opportunities for artists and art workers.
This year, OSCA secured grant funding to bring a series of workshops to Andamooka, involving community members and Andamooka School students in creating festival content. These workshops focus on upskilling participants in tech support, artistic creation, and event management, building a dedicated team for the evolving Opal Evolution Festival.
By joining our workshops, you'll not only be part of the festival team but also gain skills to contribute to other significant events in Woomera, Roxby Downs, and beyond. Together, let's create unforgettable cultural experiences and strengthen our regional community.
