Angel Benson
Angel is a natural building architect, visual artist and educator.
As far back as he can remember, Angel has always had a pencil in his hand or paint at his fingertips. Growing up in Mexico, he was fascinated by both built and natural environments, particularly habitats as they occur in nature, and most notably those of ants.
For the longest time, Angel's inspiration has come from nature, its aesthetics, its elements and its transformation. That inspiration took him to art school, where he received a Bachelor's of Architecture which led him to teaching art and architecture at several Universities in Tijuana, Mexico.
Angel has exhibited his artwork since 1994 in both solo and group exhibitions in Mexico, Australia and the USA. In Mexico he received a state award for fine art in 1997, in the category of “Artist with Trajectory” with participatory art.
While Angel continues to be inspired by nature, in recent years his art has become more personal and a way for him to explore and express his thoughts, feelings and insights about what it means to be human at this time in history.
He still finds himself fascinated by his surroundings on his daily walk to his studio.
