This event is co-hosted by the ANU LRSJ Protest Rights and Legal Observer Project and the ANU Law Students' Society.
The LRSJ Protest Rights and Legal Observer Initiative aims to increase community understanding of police powers and the right to protest in the ACT. It serves as both a community legal education initiative and a student research hub. The Project was created in response to the growing trend of anti-protest legislation in most Australian jurisdictions, the relatively limited scholarly attention on these issues, and the lack of legal observer network in the ACT region. The Project aims to support communities to engage in collective action, facilitate student research on these topics, and emphasise the importance of grassroots protest action.
The ANU Law Students’ Society is the representative body for ANU law students, providing a wide range of social, educational and careers-oriented programs and events.
