ARTS ASSIST is a not-for-profit community organisation that supports, nurtures and promotes artistic and cultural activities for the benefit of the community of Wyndham. Wyndham is a local council area situated in the west of Melbourne, Victoria, on Bunurong and Wadawurrung land.
Wyndham Community Cultural Foundation (WCCF) was established in 1999. WCCF (otherwise known as ARTS ASSIST) was instrumental in spearheading a community fundraising campaign contributing a significant donation to fund the construction and fit out of the original Wyndham Cultural Centre, ensuring that the local community had a 500-seat Performing Arts Theatre and Gallery space.
Since then, ARTS ASSIST has supported an extensive list of local artists, schools, and community groups in many ways including a program of grants for artistic projects, partnering with others on projects, and assisting with the purchase of equipment to support artists and arts companies in Wyndham. We also initiated and produced significant cultural projects, including the Water Tower Mural in Tower Road, Werribee, and an Oral History project on the State Research Farm.
In 2025 we celebrate 25 years of supporting, enhancing and developing arts and culture in the City of Wyndham for the Community.
We are are excited about the future as we embark on a new chapter for ARTS ASSIST.
As part of our 25th Birthday celebrations we are holding a Trivia Night Fundraiser on the 16th of October 2025.
Why are we raising funds?
Arts Assist are a well established foundation that has supported, developed and enhanced Arts+Culture in Wyndham for the past 25 years. We are proud of our long history of helping local artists and art projects and enabling the arts to enrich our community.
However, we have noticed there are talented artists in the community that are not able to participate or reach their full potential. We want to help them too!
We believe that being creative and experiencing the arts gives us a way to be seen, even when words are hard to find. We know that for people with intellectual disabilities and when neurodivergence has impacted on their participation, art can be a lifeline—a way to express what’s inside, to build identity, to connect. Too often, the mainstream arts world forgets this. But when we make space for everyone to create and be celebrated, we discover just how powerful and transformative art can be. It doesn’t just change lives—it changes the way we see each other.
Supported Studios offer mentorship, creative development, professional opportunities and access to peer networks and advocacy to share their work. They give artists with a disability a dignified, inclusive environment where they connect with community and gain a sense of belonging.
With your support, we will launch a Supported Studio Pilot program in Wyndham for visual artists to participate and access what is available to others - skill building and career development to grow their talent.
We want to remove the barriers and see these artists thrive!
This project is inspired by successful supported studios around Australia.
It’s a small first step to see what works here and how we can grow it long term. It lays the foundation for a long-term social enterprise that supports inclusion, creative development, and cultural visibility.
ARTS ASSIST is a registered charity. All funds raised from ticket sales, and any donations made, will go back into our programs, and will help us to achieve our goal of inclusion and accessibility for artists in Wyndham.
