Arts NT is a business unit within the Department of Territory Families, Housing and Communities (TFHC) and is responsible for the development, administration and evaluation of the Northern Territory (NT) Arts Grants Program (AGP).
As the jurisdictional arts funding body representing the NT Government, Arts NT supports the growth of a thriving arts community, vital to our social, cultural and economic future. This is achieved through:
- funding for artists, arts workers, arts and cultural organisations and community groups that support arts and creative industries development, community access and participation in arts and culture,
- funding and partnership programs that build the capacity and sustainability of the arts and creative industries,
- arts policy, strategies, research and advice to the NT and federal government,
- the representation of the NT through the Australia Council All Jurisdictions and Meeting of Cultural Ministers Working Groups,
- accommodation and infrastructure development and support to arts organisations through NT Government leased and owned venues and facilities.
Through the AGP, Arts NT provides funding to 21 Leading Arts Organisations and 2 Strategic Arts Venues through 5 year funding agreements to develop and deliver programs and services that invest in artists, the arts sector and creative industries in order to develop opportunities and grow the creative economy, and encourage artistic excellence and leadership, achievement and participation.
