Ashwini Chaskar is a Zentangle artist and urban sketcher based in Wellington, New Zealand. Originally from India, Ashwini has called New Zealand home for the past 18 years. With a master’s degree in fine arts, Ashwini has always pursued art in various forms, balancing her creative endeavours with a full-time job and family responsibilities.
Throughout her artistic journey, Ashwini has explored a wide range of art forms, including Batik silk painting, Indian tribal art, watercolours, acrylics, alcohol and acrylic inks, and paper crafts such as origami and quilling. In recent years, she has focused on Zentangle Inspired Art
and urban sketching.
Ashwini's journey with Zentangle began in 2016 when she discovered a Zentangle introductory course that reignited her passion for art. Despite the demands of work and family life, Ashwini found solace in the simplicity and accessibility of Zentangle, which requires just a pen and a small piece of paper. She enrolled in the workshop and has been dedicated to Zentangle ever since.
As a certified Zentangle teacher (CZT), Ashwini completed a 3-day seminar with Zentangle, Inc. in November 2024. Since then, she has been teaching Zentangle, sharing her knowledge and passion with others. You can learn more about Ashwini on Facebook and Instagram under the handle
