About AUSCO:

The Auckland University Student Chamber Orchestra (AUSCO) has been run since 2019 with the goal of bringing students together to perform and bond as a group with like minded interests in classical music and beyond. AUSCO puts on a range of social events like an orchestra camp, dinners, games nights, pub quizzes, and so on for our members. We also have weekly rehearsals leading up to our many orchestral performances throughout the year that our members highlight as the best part of AUSCO. We pride ourselves in creating a fun and enjoyable space for those who predominantly don't study music at University but played instruments all throughout High School.

Our 100% charity concerts are the heart and soul of AUSCO. Each concert importantly donates 100% of all proceeds to a charity of our choice. In Semester 1, 2023 we combined with the Auckland University Student Choir to make our first ever collaborative concert which went in support of the Red Cross Disaster Fund following the Auckland anniversary flooding. With over 200 ticket sales we were extremely grateful to have raised $4,065 for this important cause! In Semester 2 we created a full symphony orchestra, performing "To The Oscars" - with iconic pieces from Star Wars, Studio Ghibli, Pirates of the Caribbean, Dvorak, and so many more. This concert was in support of Youthline and was a raging success, selling out our venue with over 280 people in attendance and raising $4,737 for Youthline. Feel free to watch our entire concert in the video below to get a sense of the calibre and size of our orchestra.
