ANZHES was established in 1971 and has provided a vital umbrella for the creation and sharing of research in the field of educational history in Australia, New Zealand and beyond. ANZHES holds an annual conference and sponsors the History of Education Review (HERV), a Q1 academic journal in the history of education and closely related fields. In 2013 ANZHES also established the Dictionary of Educational History in Australia and New Zealand (DEHANZ) as a comprehensive and reliable guide to all areas of educational history in Australia and New Zealand.
