The Australian General Practice Network (AGPN) is a health promotion charity dedicated to improving access to quality healthcare across Australian communities. Our mission is to support the vital work of general practitioners (GPs), enhancing the care they provide and promoting disease prevention to ensure the health and well-being of all Australians.
Since our founding in the mid-90s, AGPN has been committed to advocating for general practice, working closely with GPs to prevent and manage diseases through innovative education, community initiatives, and evidence-based advocacy. As a charitable institution, we focus on disease prevention, striving to improve health outcomes for individuals and promote healthy lifestyles that reduce the risk of illness. Our collaborative approach allows us to work with healthcare providers, government agencies, and other stakeholders to make a lasting impact on public health.
In recent years, AGPN has been instrumental in several key initiatives, such as introducing the Meningococcal B vaccination into the South Australian childhood immunisation schedule and reducing the impact of Influenza outbreaks in SA nursing homes. We are currently advocating for greater collaboration between breast screening programs and GPs to increase participation rates and exploring ways to use technology to assist Alzheimer’s patients and their carers, particularly in rural areas.
At AGPN, we are passionate about supporting general practices so they can thrive and deliver exceptional healthcare services to their communities. Our goal is to create a sustainable healthcare ecosystem where every GP has the resources they need to provide high-quality care to their patients. Through our advocacy, disease prevention efforts, and practice support services, we continue to make a real difference in the lives of Australians.
