The Gift of Giving - Pottery with Saskia
Time to fill up your cup so you can give from your overflow.
Join me for a fun and relaxed beginner-friendly pop-up pottery workshop where you can slow down, switch off from the busyness of everyday life and create your very own personalised ceramic piece.
A little about me and why I started these workshops
As a Nurse/Midwife working in the healthcare centre at Adelaide Women’s Prison while juggling a multigenerational household with three adult children (+ my first grandbaby on the way) and caring for my ageing parents (including Mum who has dementia) I understand how easily we can put everyone else’s needs before our own.
We spend so much of our time caring, supporting, giving and showing up for others.
Sometimes, we forget that we need a little care too.
That’s why I started these pop-up workshops once a month to support others who care for others. Allocating time away from my own busy life and ensuring I continue to have creativity in my life by creating a welcoming space where you can take some time out for yourself and reconnect with your own needs and recharge, so you can continue giving to others from a place of fullness rather than exhaustion.
Who is this workshop for?
These workshops are for everyday people especially those who spend much of their time caring for others whether professionally or personally.
Busy mums, carers, nurses, midwives and other healthcare professionals, teachers, support workers or anyone who simply needs a little breathing space away from the usual demands of life.
You don’t need any pottery experience, artistic ability or even a belief that you’re creative.
Just bring yourself and let go of perfectionism step out of your comfort zone with a willingness to give something new a go.
What will we do?
Everything will be prepared for you including the clay rolled into slabs with simple beginner-friendly templates to help you get started.
I’ll guide you through the process step by step with plenty of opportunity to add your own personal touches and make your piece uniquely yours.
There’s no pressure to make something perfect. This is about enjoying the process, getting your hands into the clay, having a laugh and allowing yourself to slow down for a couple of hours.
At the end of the session I’ll take your creation away to be finish off, fired twice and glazed.
