The Bengal Foundation Australia (BFA) is a registered Australian charitable organisation, representing the ethnolinguistic diaspora of Bengalis from South Asia (including India and Bangladesh). BFA promotes Bengali culture, art, literature, cuisine, history, heritage, and traditions.
Membership is open to anyone interested in the history and culture of the Bengal region in South Asia.
The aims of BFA (from the Constitution) are to:
- promote the advancement of Bengali culture
- provide an organisation for the discussion and dissemination of Bengal’s history, traditions, literature, and philosophy.
- promote mutual respect and tolerance between groups of people in Australia by actively countering racism and bringing widespread understanding and tolerance among all sectors of the community
