Doug and Damo lead Bloco Winnoch’s samba workshops, bringing over 50 years of combined performance, teaching and directing experience.
Doug has learned from leading samba practitioners across the UK, Europe and Brazil, performing in the Rio Carnaval, with Bloco X and for more than 20 years with Glasgow’s SambaYaBamba. A percussionist and singer, he teaches all samba instruments through workshops that are authentic, welcoming and great fun.
Damo is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and former Musical Director of SambaYaBamba. His writing blends samba with influences from funk, hip hop, drum and bass, techno and Afro-Brazilian rhythms. His enthusiasm for music is infectious.
Together they create energetic, accessible workshops that give participants a genuine taste of Brazilian percussion and the joy of making music together.
