BodyPlaceProject aims to curate, create and facilitate meaningful artistic, embodied and cultural engagement with places. Internationally recognised as experts in the field of site-specific performance, BodyPlaceProject has fostered this artform in Yarra Ranges on the lands of the Kulin Nation since 2014. Initiated by dancer and artist/curator Gretel Taylor, BodyPlaceProject has evolved into a collective of local artists who share a deep interest in place and embodied response to environments. BodyPlaceProject creates and presents live performances, bringing audiences into non-conventional spaces, as well as dance-place-video works to share with broader audiences. In recent years, BodyPlaceProject has continued to explore place and identity in ever-broadening ways through facilitation of community projects and curation of programs and events that offer audiences and participants experiences of and reflections upon site, place and Country. Bringing diverse artists, First Nations knowledge holders, communities and audiences together, our purpose is to facilitate profound experiences of place.
