Bush Tucker Walks 'n' Talks with Aunty Jo Russell
I am a First Nations woman with a deep passion for sharing culture, knowledge, and connection to Country.
For the past 11 years, I have been running workshops on Bushtucker food and fibre, teaching others about traditional plants and their uses. I also run cooking sessions using Indigenous ingredients, sharing the flavours and stories behind our native foods.
Alongside this, I facilitate nature art activities with kindergarten children, using materials respectfully collected from the land. Through these experiences, children learn creativity, culture, and care for Country.
Five years ago, I began my Bushfood and Fibre garden at the Westmeadows Indigenous and Community Garden. This space has become a place of learning, sharing, and cultural connection for the wider community.
