The Byron Bay International Film Festival (BBFF) returns for its 20th edition from 16-25 October 2026, bringing ten days of outstanding Australian and international cinema, premieres, filmmaker Q&As, parties and special events to the Northern Rivers. From bold independent features and documentaries to shorts, surf films, animation and emerging screen forms, BBFF creates a vibrant festival experience across Byron Bay, Ballina, Brunswick Heads, Mullumbimby and beyond.
For two decades, BBFF has created the kind of festival where filmmakers and audiences actually meet. Q&As continue into conversations, opening nights and parties bring the festival community together, and visiting filmmakers share their work directly with the people watching it. It’s an opportunity to discover films you may not see anywhere else, hear the stories behind them and be part of ten days of cinema, ideas and celebration across the Northern Rivers.
