Founded in 1862, the Canterbury Branch Royal Society of New Zealand is recognized as the oldest active scientific society in New Zealand. The Canterbury branch promotes science, humanities and technology across Canterbury region through public lectures, support Early Career Researchers with travel grants and events, supports the Children's University and the Canterbury/Westland Science fair.
