CASWA – Child Safe Team
The CASWA Child Safe Team is a dedicated project team within the Council of Aboriginal Services Western Australia (CASWA), working in partnership with the WA Council of Social Service (WACOSS) to support the Child Safe Project across Western Australia.
Our work focuses on increasing awareness and supporting the implementation of the 10 National Principles for Child Safe Organisations, developed through the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.
Grounded in Aboriginal self-determination, the CASWA Child Safe Team works specifically with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) to strengthen culturally informed approaches to child safety. We support organisations to apply the National Principles in ways that reflect Aboriginal knowledge, cultural authority and community accountability.
Through practical guidance, engagement and awareness raising, our aim is to build confidence, strengthen understanding and support ACCOs to create environments where children and young people are safe, supported and heard.
