Celebrate Ageing is a not for profit combatting ageism and building respect for older people. Established by Dr Catherine Barrett in 2013 the organisation bridges the evidence-culture-gap through art and narrative based approaches that engage the community in cultural change. Our projects and programs focus on primary prevention (changing attitudes and behaviours) and groups of older people who are marginalised groups by the disrespect.
The Elder Leadership Academy is at the heart of Celebrate Ageing's philosophy and approach, offering Fellowships to older people to co-lead change. The first seven graduates of the Academy have achieved global impacts in their work to promote respect for people living with dementia, older LGBTI people and older victim/survivors of sexual assault.
