At Change for Youth Foundation, we are rewriting the story for children in care and for our community.
Right now in Queensland, more than 12,000 children live in out-of-home care. Too many carry the weight of trauma, disrupted education, and a system that struggles to meet their needs. The consequences are profound – disengagement from school, social isolation, and, all too often, contact with the youth justice system.
We believe children who’ve experienced hardship deserve more than hope – they deserve action. That’s why our Empower Youth Program delivers one-on-one, trauma-informed learning and wellbeing support, and why we work closely with schools, systems, and carers to advocate for lasting change. The results are powerful: when a child reconnects with learning, they begin to see possibility in themselves and in their future. These are not small wins – they are life-changing.
