Club Sandwich is the podcast and community for the sandwich generation: the midlife Australians caring for ageing parents while raising kids and holding everything else together.
Hosted by broadcaster Sarah Macdonald, with regular guests including clinical psychologist Dr Jo Lamble and geriatrician Dr Stephanie Ward, the podcast talks plainly about the stuff most of us don't quite know how to talk about. Guilt. Denial. Grief. The family group chat. The aged-care phone call. The parent who won't accept help. The teenager who needs it more than they'll admit. The quiet moment at 5pm when you realise you haven't sat down since breakfast.
We run regular in-person events alongside the pod, in kitchens, community rooms and halls around the country, plus live online conversations. We publish free resources too: helpful hearts and hacks for this chapter of life. From the aged-care phone call you've been putting off to the conversation you need to have with your sister.
What started as a podcast has become the place a whole generation of women are finding each other. They listen on the school run, and on the drive home from the nursing home. They send episodes to their sisters. They show up to our events because it's the hour of the week they feel seen.
Ageing isn't for sissies. Carenting isn't either. Club Sandwich is where it gets named, and a bit lighter to carry.
