Concordia is a plucked-strings chamber orchestra based in East Malvern, Victoria. Established in 1978, its first conductor was the prominent Melbourne guitarist John Griffiths. Concordia has presented hundreds of concerts across Melbourne and regional Victoria and toured Italy in 1984, performing in cities such as Rome, Florence and Milan.
Our repertoire spans from Baroque through to contemporary works and includes music by Australian composers, reflecting both tradition and innovation. Concordia has produced six CD recordings with Melbourne based Move Records www.move.com.au. Our CDs can be purchased either at our concerts or by contacting us through our website below. We warmly welcome new players, so if you would like to find out more, you can contact Marion Blazé at president@concordiamandolins.org.au. If you play the violin, we are keen to chat with you about playing the mandolin, which has the same tuning.
