Conrad Feather is an anthropologist (PhD, 2010, University of St Andrews) with over 20 years experience working in the Amazon with indigenous and forest communities supporting their efforts to protect and manage their territories and resources. This has involved extensive ethnographic research, community based mapping and monitoring as well as supporting community activism, advocacy and litigation to challenge and hold to account oil and gas, logging, and palm oil operations in their territories. In 2002 Conrad set up Shinai, a small not-for-profit grass roots organisation in Peru to support this work. Between 2010 and 2020, he was responsible for the Peru programme of The Forest Peoples Programme (www.forestpeoples.org), a UK based international human rights organisation. Since 2020 Conrad has shifted his focus to supporting sustainable community livelihoods which resulted in the establishment of Techo Verde, a not-for-profit social enterprise supporting the direct trade of sustainably and ethically produced coffee beans from one of the communities in Peru where Conrad lived to the UK.
