Danny Starr, owner of Barossa Gourmet Mushrooms (BGM) and a passionate food-grower, discovered his interest for mushroom cultivation almost accidentally after watching a segment on TV, highlighting the ability to add fungi to a list of home-grown crops.
A while later, BGM was born, now providing fresh, seasonal mushrooms and herbs to restaurants and cafes from Mount Barker to the Barossa Valley.
While his operation produces a variety of high-quality, mushrooms each week, Danny has kept his business and facility small enough to allow him to prioritise his environmental values, leaving as small an environmental footprint as possible while fostering strong relationships with local businesses and chefs
