Daryl Peebles has added much to Australia’s entertainment / comedy scene as both a writer and a performer over many years. Several comedy plays with performances in every Australian state, New Zealand and the UK have fallen from his pen along with numerous revues and bawdy pantomimes.
He has worked as a comedian for over 40 years appearing in most Australian states and in Canada. Daryl is a regular participant in the Mental Health Week Comedy Road Show and is now taking his new show Stand Up for Seniors – but not necessarily on the bus, to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in March / April 2025.
Daryl now regularly works as an after-dinner speaker, MC, magician, ventriloquist, and comedy / charity auctioneer. But there is a serious side.
While Daryl worked professionally in human resource management and corporate communications, he studied part-time at the University of Tasmania’s Tasmanian School of Business and Economics from where he graduated with a PhD - his thesis focusing on the sometimes-controversial subject, The Value of Humour in Workplaces. His research and findings are the basis of his entertaining and informative talk about the benefits of appropriate humour in life generally, although these days he focuses on the benefits of humour in ageing and in mental health.
