Julian Langworthy — Chief Winemaker, Deep Woods Estate and Fogarty Hall Fine Wine Estates
Julian is regarded as one of the most talented winemakers in Australia, with accolades including James Halliday's Winemaker of the Year, a Jimmy Watson Trophy, and Ray Jordan's Winemaker of the Year. His career has spanned vintages in France and Canada, and senior winemaking roles in the Barossa Valley, Clare Valley and Coonawarra, before joining Deep Woods in 2011. Passionate about producing regionally distinctive wines, he now serves as Chief Winemaker across the full Fogarty Hall Fine Wine Estates portfolio.
Recent years have brought further recognition: WA Good Food Guide Winemaker of the Year (2024), IWSC WA Producer of the Year (2025), and, most notably, Best in Show at the 2026 Decanter World Wine Awards for the 2023 Deep Woods Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon (97 Points) — the only single-varietal Cabernet Sauvignon in the world to win the honour this year, and the second Best in Show for this wine in five years. A further four wines across the Fogarty Hall Fine Wine Estates portfolio were awarded Gold, including the 2024 Deep Woods Reserve Chardonnay (95 Points).
