Denise is a German born artist who spent much of her early years in Sydney before making Adelaide her home. She completed a BA Visual Arts Degree at the University of South Australia and later completed a year of Design at the Design Centre, Enmore, Sydney. She worked for many years in various creative fields. The visual skills she acquired, helped her to develop a keen eye for colour, shape, and composition, which are represented in her current paintings. Her work is heavily inspired by Mid-Century design and the Bauhaus period. These design aesthetics are featured prominently in her use of clean lines, shapes, and her aim to capture a harmonious composition. Like the Bauhaus movement, Denise celebrates the freedom to overlap art and design and has a passion for both. More recently Denise completed a Bachelor of Education Degree at Flinders University which enables her to teach. Denise has been warmly received in her art classes and loves the interaction with her students.
Denise's paintings have been shown in various interstate galleries and her work has been featured in Belle, Adore and Instyle Magazine. She currently sells her work through Fenton + Fenton in Melbourne. Denise and her family have recently moved to a Modernist style house in the eastern suburbs of Adelaide where she has a home studio in which practices her art overlooking a beautiful bushland vista.
