The Doctors in Secondary Schools Program is a smart health initiative that delivers primary care directly to students within a school setting. The Victorian Government has successfully delivered this program to 100 disadvantaged secondary schools across the state since 2023. The program is currently recruiting GPs and nurses interested in working within school hours in the fields of preventive health care and early interventions with young people. Training in youth-friendly care and ongoing support are provided by The Department of General Practice and Primary Care at The University of Melbourne as part of the program.
