Dr Kate Grundy is the Clinical Director of the Canterbury Integrated Palliative Care Services. 25 years ago she established the palliative care service at Christchurch Hospital. She teaches and mentors medical students, young doctors and other healthcare professionals in symptom management, communication skills and medical decision-making. Kate has held many leadership roles in New Zealand and Australia and is on a number of national committees.
Melanie Mayell is host of the Christchurch Death Cafe and creator of the three Death Matters conferences. In 2012 she started the Thankyou Project to promote the value of gratitude. She runs workshops and events that help people move beyond their fear of death and savour the preciousness of life.
