Dr Shane Glasson FACEL, FACELWA, FAIM, FGIA, GAICD has an unbridled passion for leadership and has made the identification of leadership talent and the formation, development, and revitalisation of leaders the focus of his life, work, and scholarship. Over the course of his 30-year career, Shane has assisted hundreds of leaders to find their niche and reach their potential, especially those from educational settings. He lives this vision every day as the Founder of The Liminal Space, a consultancy based in Perth, Western Australia.
Shane has a growth mindset and is proudly learning agile. Prior to founding The Liminal Space, Shane worked in the Organisational Development space for small companies through to billion-dollar, internationally renowned enterprises where he worked as an individual contributor and successfully led strategic, leadership-oriented projects involving the guidance of multi-disciplinary teams, the administration of large budgets, and adherence to time-critical deadlines. When working at system level for Catholic Education Western Australia, he led the development of their Leadership Framework, Leadership Talent Identification process and systemic suite of leadership programs including the Emerging Leaders’, Middle Leaders’, Aspiring Principals’, Principal Induction Program and
Experienced Principals’ Programs. Shane has expertise in many fields pertaining to leadership including trust, emotional intelligence, resilience, grit, optimism, self-efficacy, cohesive team formation and performance, facilitating difficult conversations and effective meetings, leading millennials, and leading change.
Shane mentors and coaches’ executive talent and conducts research in the fields of leadership, self-efficacy, human potential, and wellbeing. He lectures post-graduate university students in the fields of exemplary leadership and management and presents at local, national, and international leadership conferences. He has also served as a Non-Executive Director of The Australian Catholic Superannuation and Retirement Fund - a AUD $12 billion fund that recently merged with Unisuper to create a $130 billion mega fund. In addition to serving on the Board, he was a member of the fund’s Remuneration and Nominations Committee.
Shane is a continuous learner, evidenced by seven university degrees, including a PhD in leadership development and a Master of Business Administration. He is a trained teacher and facilitator of adult learning and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD). Shane is the fortunate recipient of Fellowships from The Australian Council for Educational Leaders, Western Australia (FACELWA) and nationally (FACEL), The Australian Institute of Management (FAIM), and The Governance Institute of Australia (FGIA). He is qualified in a variety of leadership-orientated psychometric tools including The Life Styles Inventory (LSI), Talentx7, DiSC®, and Five Behaviours ®.
