The East Coast Bays Community-led storm recovery initiative aims to explore what recovery means for impacted communities with respect to extreme weather events in 2023 and the ongoing effects.
It also aims to support the initial development of grassroots initiatives that support long term recovery in communities and build resilience.Kristi Shaw (Totally Connected) will facilitate this project. Kristi's BIO is here below.
Kristi Shaw has a Masters of Applied Practice (Community Development & Mental Health), a PGDip Counselling (Narrative Therapy) and is a certified Appreciative Inquiry Facilitator (developing groups to collaborate for cohesive action and a collective voice).
She has spent over 25 years in NZ building stronger connected communities through her experience in management (recreation and environment centres), community development (disability, youth, families, seniors, migrants) and counselling (narrative therapy).Kristi wears a few hats; currently she is the Auckland Regional Coordinator at NZDSN, has recently developed and facilitated the We Empower Us youth wellbeing community activation project in East Coast Bays, and is now facilitating the community-led storm recovery in East Coast Bays.
Kristi is passionate about using a community development approach to resource and strengthen the valuable mahi of our communities.
