The Community Organisation Disaster Adaptation (CODA) Project runs across the Bega Valley Shire and Eurobodalla Shire by the Eden Community Access Centre.
The CODA team works with different NGO’s, Emergency Service agencies, and Government agencies to support vulnerable community members across both the Bega Valley and Eurobodalla shires. Our goal is to help vulnerable community members, clients and staff in care organisations, and carers and the person they are supporting at home to be better prepared with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate emergencies effectively. CODA aims to equip residents across Bega Valley and Eurobodalla Shire Councils, as well as six other regions in New South Wales (NSW).
One of the tools that will be used is the Person-Centred Emergency Preparedness (P-CEP) planning tool. P-CEP has been co-designed with people who live with a disability, Sydney University and the QLD Government. P-CEP uses four steps to increase emergency preparedness as well as visual aids such as the capability wheel to identify strengths and support needs in everyday life.
