ERNST is a force to be reckoned with – something that a certain English writer once recognized. However, it is Virginia Woolf rather than Oscar Wilde who truly inspires them. With indie rock riffs and driving bass lines, ERNST weaves queer-feminist messages through their dual-language lyrics which challenge and confront your deepest hopes and fears. ERNST’s sound draws from the grit of grunge, the raw energy of punk, and the charm of indie pop and new wave, creating music which is both dreamy and dirty.
It was a chance encounter in a Viennese staircase that led to ERNST’s unexpected journey, setting them on a path which would take them and their tour bus “Joe” from the town of Hollabrunn, Austria to Brighton, Manchester, Sibenik, London, Vienna, Linz and Copenhagen. Their debut single ‘Don't Buy It’ debuted on BBC Introducing and their debut album ‘Mere Illusions’ dives deep into the edgy, glamourous and empowering world of ERNST.
