Blistering the lines between grunge and melodic metal, Brisbane’s Flamboyant Nightmare are here to introduce their genre bending, high octane tunes with the release of their upcoming EP ‘The Fall’. Featuring exhilarating fretwork, vibrant synths, cinematic orchestral arrangements, and a groove-oriented rhythm section bolstering Rachel Kate’s powerhouse vocals, the group delivers infectious melodies akin to Metallica and Halestorm.
Originally starting out as a duo, Rachel Kate (vocals, synth) and Daniel Langdon (guitars) released a string of self-produced singles which established their distinctive sound and quickly gained momentum in the Queensland heavy music scene. Their singles such as ‘Sail Away’ (2024) and ‘Burn The Bridge’ (2024) have amassed thousands of streams and widespread acclaim. To take this electric audio-visual odyssey live, the project saw the addition of Sam Bowman (drums) and Scott Leigh (bass).
From extravagant Victorian Gothic-esque outfits, Kate’s deep gutturals and resonant cleans, chant along choruses to adrenaline fuelled instrumentation rooted in heavy metal riffage, grunge/heavy rock inspired rhythms, and killer 80’s throwback elements, Flamboyant Nightmare’s explosive live performances are not to be missed. Rumours say that if you mosh just right, their unofficial fifth member ‘Cap’n Flammy’ might even make an appearance
