Howick Primary School is a proud, community-based school with just under 400 wonderful students. We are committed to providing the best possible environment for their learning and play. A critical element of this is protecting them from the harsh New Zealand sun. Our senior playground, a hub of activity and joy, currently lacks adequate shade, leaving our children exposed to harmful UV rays during playtime and outdoor lessons.
While this is an essential health and safety measure, the Ministry of Education unfortunately does not fund such vital infrastructure. This means the responsibility falls to our dedicated school community to raise the necessary funds. We have set an ambitious but achievable goal to raise $150,000 to construct a state-of-the-art outdoor dome shade cover that will offer a safe, protected space for our students to thrive.
