Friends of Park Terrace and Esplanade reserves Ardrossan was established in 2021 to help with management of 6 hectares of remnant native grassland in Ardrossan, on the coast just north of the jetty.
Funding has been provided by the Northern and Yorke Landscape Board and Coast Protection Board to create a Management Plan [with Greening Australia] and undertake weed control. Management Plan is available on web - search "Ardrossan grasslands"'
The remnant area contains some 100 native species including Endangered Lanky Buttons daisy [Leptorhynchos elongatus] and Rare Showy Copper-wire Daisy [Podolepis decipiens] and Rholach's Bluebush Maireana rholachii as well as a wide variety of native grasses, lilies, daisies and forbs forbs and some shrubs.
Weed control includes Gazania, Onion Weed, Scabiosa, Golden Pallenis, garden escape lilies, Sage and Marshmallow and well as grassy weeds via slashing.
