Ballarat Frolic Festival is Ballarat’s PRIDE Festival. We are a not-for-profit, volunteer-run organisation that runs twice-yearly, inclusive PRIDE festivals promoting and supporting regional LGBTIQA+ artists, art, culture, and community.
Since 2017 we’ve been running an annual festival Ballarat Frolic Festival and the occasional event during the year. From 2023 we are moving to twice yearly with our light summer and dark winter festivals. Two different vibes, but both celebrating PRIDE and our communities.
We envisage creating an inclusive Ballarat where LGBTIQA+ people feel visible, connected, and proud; the broader community is welcoming; and our contributions to art, culture and community are valued and celebrated. Feedback from community is that our festival is a unique, welcoming celebration of community and connection that you don’t typically see at LGBTIQA+ festivals. You may come with friends, or you may come alone - but either way you are welcomed and made to feel connected at Ballarat Frolic Festival.
