Garden of Weaving was created in 2023 by Cath Inman, a self taught fibre artist using locally foraged and found plant materials to create sustainable sculptural and functional art.
With a lifelong love of nature and plants starting as a child then studying Horticulture 25 years ago, Cath's intimate knowledge of plants paired with a constant craving for creativity led her to experiment and explore the possibilities the plant world offered to create art through basketry and weaving techniques. This came about as an extension of her garden addiction, feeling a need to recover and utilise any green-waste that looked to have any sculptural and textural elements that could be usable for creating art.
With an inherent ability for noticing and appreciating the most miniscule of things unseen by most, she is a constant collector of found natural treasures and detritus incorporating them in decorative and innovative ways.
Her awareness grew to notice a deep yearning by others to connect and be creative which has led her to running regular workshops teaching others about plant foraging,
weaving and basketry. Holding space for workshop participants to deepen their connection to our local natural environment.
Sharing ancient skills used by our ancestors, bringing people together, inspiring others to nurture themselves through creativity without impacting the environment is
what most inspires her.
