Founded by visionary women during the Industrial Revolution – before suffragettes campaigned for the vote – it began as a revolutionary movement to support young women facing exploitation and hardship. Ahead of its time, GFS offered safe spaces, dignity, and practical friendship. Today, we’ve grown into an inclusive, intergenerational community where everyone is welcome.
