Gwyneth Jansen is a Sydney based guitarist, instrumental artist and performer. Since playing her first live show with death metal band Decharot (2021-2024) she has established herself in the underground Sydney metal scene as a shredder to be reckoned with. With Decharot she recorded the single “Blind to see Deaf to Hear”, toured across Sydney, Wollongong, Canberra, Melbourne and played at festivals such as Steel Assassins (Sydney, 2023) and The Pub that Dreaded Sundown (Newcastle, 2022.) Since 2024, Jansen has joined Melodic death metal band Destruction of the Healer, making her debut at their EP launch last April and played at Primitive Fest in 2024.
Outside of the metal scene, she works as a session artist, playing for artists such as Matt Landi and Sian Fuller. She received critical acclaim as the lead guitarist for the feminist, immigrant story, chicken-rock musical “The Hen House” (2023); “Special mention must go to lead guitarist…, whose stage presence elevates her role from musical accompaniment to performer.”- Arts Hub 16th September(2023) Theatre Review: The Hen House, Riverside Theatre, Madeleine Gandhi.
Her most recent work includes her debut on stage as the Sydney Guitar Deputy for ‘SIX The Musical Australia’ (2024).
