HARR is the local Reconciliation Group of the Hornsby and extended area. Since 1999, HARR has worked worked in partnership with Hornsby Shire Council, schools, other local reconciliation groups in surrounding areas and businesses to:
1. Provide opportunities for exchange of information on issues relevant to the cause of reconciliation
2. Create opportunities for sharing knowledge, resources and expertise
3. Lobby and advocate for recognition and social justice for First Nations Peoples
4. Encourage in the local community:
- a. An understanding of the rights and contribution of First Nations Peoples
- b. An appreciation of First Nations cultures
- c. A celebration of the historical and ongoing presence of First Nations Peoples in our community.
We do this via public events, educational publications, fundraising, information stalls and participation on the Hornsby Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Consultative Committee (HATSICC).
