Since 2016, we’ve helped hundreds of ex-serving and serving defence personnel and first responders across Australia take life by the reins again
Horse Aid is an Australian for-purpose and not-for-profit registered charity that provides free equine-assisted healing programs for serving and ex-serving defence personnel and first responders who are suffering from mental health challenges due to service trauma experienced while serving our nation and our community.
Developed by former NSW Mounted Policeman, qualified riding instructor and horse trainer Scott Brodie, our healing horsemanship programs offer a second chance and support system for both heroes and horses who need help to heal from trauma, rebuild confidence and learn new skills–finding a path forward to hope and second chances. Traditional equine therapy uses well-adjusted horses to help people… but with thoroughbreds from off the track, the healing works both ways. The horses are retrained, the veterans regain their confidence, and they both find new purpose in life
The healing journey for these heroes is to move beyond mindsets and situations including anxiety, depression, addiction, unemployment, isolation, homelessness, family breakdown, and a loss of self-confidence and most of all loss of hope.
