My decision to change career direction and focus on the Feldenkrais Method grew from a desire to better understand how to support my own health, wellbeing and functional capacity from the inside out. Until then, I had pushed, performed and repeated exercises across a range of modalities, seeking to build strength and address pain and fatigue. What I had not yet discovered was that greater flexibility—in both mind and body—could be a more fundamental place to begin.
Moshe Feldenkrais’ observation that we “act in accordance with our self-image” remains as potent to me today as when I first encountered it. Learning to slow down, listen, sense and feel, and to act with greater awareness, opened a different way of understanding movement, learning and wellbeing.
This foundation led me to four years of professional training and formal qualification as a Feldenkrais Practitioner with the Australian Feldenkrais Guild in 2020. Since then, ongoing advanced practitioner training and continued exploration of the method’s principles have deepened my understanding and practice.
