Inner City Permaculture is an urban microfarm established by @PlantBasedMale located 10km from Sydney's CBD in the leafy suburb of Bardwell Valley.
Situated on 961m2 of land, it is home to European honeybees, an over-engineered chicken coop plus run and tractor, 9 raised garden beds, 4 no dig beds, 4 archways and 60 meters of fence line which currently grows Madagascar beans, pumpkins, gourds, kiwi fruit, passionfruit and sweet potato vines. We also have many established and establishing trees such as avocados, a variety of citrus, feijoa, bananas, mango, figs, elderberries, finger and desert limes, and a Brazil cherry.
Vegetables in our beds are a mixture of perennial and annuals and we attempt to grow different crops every year to see which grow best in our local climate; we have grown garlic, sweet potato, tomatoes, eggplants, okra, zucchinis, cucumbers, radish, strawberries, mixed greens and salad greens (silverbeet, rocket, lettuce, pak choy) carrots, potatoes, ginger, turmeric, herbs such as mint, sage, coriander, oregano, tarragon and rosemary, plus interesting and unusual things such as Okinawa spinach, yacon (Peruvian ground apple), pepino, Madagascar bean, comfrey, sugar cane and bana grass, and more!
