A natural pessimist, Jamie completely transformed his own mindset after studying the Science of Optimism followed by training in the application of Emotional Intelligence (EQ) to business performance in the US.

Jamie overcame his natural pessimism through studying Dr. Martin Seligman’s research on Learned Helplessness and Learned Optimism. He was also the first consultant in the Southern Hemisphere to be accredited by Essi Systems in the US as a trainer and coach in Emotional Intelligence (EQ).

Jamie is a charter associate member of the International Positive Psychology Association and a founding member of the NZ Association of Positive Psychology. As a Director of Resilient Minds (resilientminds.co.nz), Jamie trains and mentors a wide range of clients in the business, government and sporting sectors. with a strong focusing on motivation and wellbeing.

He designed and leads the highly acclaimed ‘Building Your Mental Strength and Resilience’ course, attended by thousands for transformative and long-lasting outcomes.

Jamie is a father of three adult daughters, and a proud grandfather to two granddaughters and two grandsons.
Passionate about motorcycles, Jamie embarks on thrilling adventures both in New Zealand and beyond. His latest addition to his collection is a 300km per hour Aprilia Tuono v4 Factory 1100.
