Julien Scheffer is a photographer and visual artist based in Hobart. His photographs rely on a particular way of looking to disrupt the way their subject matter is perceived and open up ways for the viewer to reconsider what seems familiar at first. Julien's work is not set in a particular visual aesthetic but is often poetic, absurd or humourous in tone. The artist uses those qualities to surprise or puzzle the viewer and encourage people to see their world differently.
Georgia Lilley is an analogue photographer based in Launceston. Her autobiographical practice examines identity, temporality and becoming through the vernacular form of family archive. Her partner and four children are central subjects in this ongoing visual memoir. The births of her children, including her unexpected, unassisted birth of twins at home, are touchstones in her practice, with surrender and embodied presence integral to her photographic methodology.
