Karen Breedon is a dedicated Clinical Psychologist with a strong interest in supporting both young people and adults experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, panic, depression, stress, emotional dysregulation, neurodiversity, trauma, and grief and loss. She is passionate about helping individuals reconnect with themselves and others through a blend of traditional therapeutic practices and creative, experiential approaches.
Karen holds a Master of Clinical Psychology from Griffith University and a Master of Science (Research) from the University of Southern Queensland. Her professional experience spans diverse settings, including hospitals, schools, crisis services, and private practice, which has equipped her with a versatile and integrative approach to care.
She draws upon a range of evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, and Nature-Based and Adventure Therapy. Karen also strongly emphasises working in a neuro-affirming, strengths-based, and client-centred manner.
Karen is the founder and director of Sunrise Peak Psychology and Adventure Therapy, based in Brisbane.There, she offers both clinic-based sessions and nature-based therapies in Toohey Forest. She is committed to providing a safe, compassionate, and engaging therapeutic environment, often incorporating creative arts, outdoor walk-and-talk therapy, and experiential activities to meet her clients' needs and preferences.
